Discover Oświęcim

Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Oświęcim is a town in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in southern Poland, situated 33 kilometres (21 mi) southeast of Katowice, near the confluence of the Vistula (Wisła) and Soła rivers.

As you explore Oświęcim, you will be transported back in time to the era of World War II. This town was once home to the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp, which has now been transformed into a museum and memorial site. This site is a must-visit for history buffs and those interested in learning about the atrocities committed during the war.

Beyond its dark history, Oświęcim also offers a variety of other attractions. The town boasts of beautiful parks and gardens, including the Park Jordanowski, which is a popular spot for picnics and leisurely walks. You can also visit the Oświęcim Synagogue, which is one of the oldest synagogues in Poland and is a testament to the town's rich Jewish heritage.
